James Merrell
Mr. Merrell’s design philosophy is influenced by architectural and non-architectural experiences alike. Internships with renowned sculptors (James Turrell and Eric Orr) and in theater set design and construction (The Julliard School) complement his experiences in New York City and East End architecture firms.
Mr. Merrell combines careful architectural planning with a keen interest in natural light, materials and detailing for each design.
Mr. Merrell’s education credits include a Master of Architecture from Yale University, where he studied with Frank O. Gehry, among others. He has also studied at the Harvard Graduate School of Design (Sustainable Architecture and Child Care Design), the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies (with Peter Eisenman), and at the Art Student’s League in New York City.
